That you include the concept of “Hell”? For some religions it is forgotten, to others – the eternal cold, for the third – an eternal hell. Whatever it was, Hell is always called a place of eternal torment of the human soul. Ada was engaged in finding a lot of people. Thus, it is considered that Ag was found in Russia, some scientists in search of Ada came to the conclusion that this place are black holes, for which they were even awarded the Ig Nobel Prize. Whatever it was, but one of the doors to hell, we can find very close – in Turkmenistan, a place called Darwaza (Darvaza).

The path here is through the Karakum desert, which means “black sands” Darwaza – the “door”. So, “the door to the desert in the middle of the black sands” – inspires. In addition to the shepherds and camels grazing in the open, no one here for tens of kilometers around. The nearest village Erbent 90 kilometers.

Here are the most real door to the underworld. From giant boilers burning gas escapes. Nothing which has got inside can not escape. Any living creature is doomed. Once in the afterlife through this “door”, no one can escape. Buzzing and bursting with hot air, a crater with a diameter of 60 and a depth of 20 meters. Gas comes out of the pores of the earth, separated by hundreds of different-sized burning torches. In some flares flames reach 10-15 meters in height.

The origins of this fascinating spectacle rather prosaic: in 1971 there were drilled an exploration well on the gas and ran into an underground cavern. Rig with all the equipment and transportation has failed. People are, thank God, were not injured. Of man-made crater went natural gas. To stop poisoning people and livestock, natural gas burned. Since then, here for 35 years, burning ever-burning torches. How long since burned billion cubic meters of valuable natural resources, no one knows.

The most interesting thing is that far away, there are two similar failure of similar origin. These craters are off, the pressure of gas here is much weaker. At the bottom of a crater – bubbling liquid mud, light gray at the bottom of another – a cool brine is an amazing turquoise.

Experts say that by using directional drilling from the denser parts of two of the three treacherous pools can be used (apparently, the reserves are manufactured – in particular, the gas lies fairly close to the ground surface). By the way, not far from the fiery crater has several well preserved with the remains of wellhead, and reintroduce them into the system easily. But in an area with “turquoise” lake where the reservoir water-gas contact is allowed, mining, apparently, is no longer possible.

Particularly pleased to recall hanging over the world energy crisis and global warming … Spread chaise longue at the edge of the crater, chop Zephirin … and immerse yourself in your thoughts …
